What are chemical safety cabinets? |
- Storage cabinets made specifically for chemicals (corrosion proof)
- Three types – Flammable storage, Acid/ Corrosive storage, Combustible storage

What do you need to consider for compliance? |
- Ensure that chemicals are labeled appropriately & separated from interactive chemicals
- Ensure that the chemicals are stored as per their volume in cabinets
- Cabinets must allow for height change – ensure that chemicals are at/ below eye level
- Toxic/ Reactive chemicals must have their ‘own’ cabinet
- Chemical cabinets must also be labeled with relevant emergency aid numbers
- Cabinets must be color coded as per the laboratory’s compliance requirements
